The Value of a Word Press Blog Site for Virtual Assistants
Here is another business challenge posted by one of our VAClassroom subscribers last week: “Ongoing difficulties in website maintenance and updates”
There are a few primary benefits for choosing a Word Press Blog over a standard site for your Virtual Assistant business:
- Google (and other major SEs) LOVE blogs as you will most definitely see faster exposure in the Search Engines then over a regular static site. Of course, it is essential to continually add new and relevant content to your blog site to keep your Search Engine listings strong.
- Blogs can position you as an authority and enable you to publish content in your areas of interest or expertise. For example, ou might write blog posts on productivity tips, time-saving business tools, or creating a stress-free work life. Internet Business Owners like myself might find these posts appealing. So, the key to a successful blog is to write content that appeals to the audience you target.
- Blog is an ideal avenue for connecting with prospective clients. The beauty of blogging is facilitating two-way communication with your audience as they share feedback and comments on your blog posts. That allows valuable dialogue and a natural way to connect with prospective clients who may be interested in your specific skills and services.
Also, there are now some very compelling and cool blog designs and formats to chose from. Check out this blog site design from the company that will actually be doing the design for VAClassroom Contest winner.

You are absolutely right about the potential value of a WordPress blog for any VA business. I notice a
number of VAs have wordpress.com blogs and wonder if they have read the terms of service, which are very limiting in terms of use for promoting one’s own business. A self-hosted wordpress.org blog is surely a better proposition in terms of risk management.

I agree 100% I am one of those VAs who use WordPress to power their entire online portfolio. I love how easy it is to administer and I love designing WordPress sites for colleagues and clients too!
I have to agree with this post, too.
I started using a Wordpress blog before I became a VA and became proficient at administering them, and now probably 65% of my business revolves around Wordpress maintenance of some kind. I love it. I truly get paid to do something I like!

I agree that Word Press Blog design and set-up is a fabulous niche to tap into right now. Business blogging is growing at a meteoric pace and businesses need blogger VAs to get them set-up and running in the blogosphere. I think a further niche to tap into is Blog Marketing. The set-up and design process is one thing, but it is also essential to train your clients on the right blogging strategies to maximize their exposure and listings in the Search Engines. It would also be cool to offer a “tool-box” to your clients of web tools that can enhance their blogging efforts like MyBloglog and HitTail.com
Humm, now you got me thinking - again! Thanks for that tip Craig!
Yes, great advice. My brain is spinning right now with new biz service ideas…
Cheers,
